Gyrth Godwinsson

Gyrth was the fifth of nine children born to Godwin, Earl of Wessex and his wife Gytha, great-granddaughter of Harald Bluetooth, king of Denmark. His brother Harold was to become king, brother Tostig Earl of Northumberland until he was displaced, and he and his younger brother Leofwine held sway in East Anglia and an area north of London. Gyrth and Leofwine fought and died alongside Harold at Senlac Hill.
